Northwest Topshots was founded on the belief that we can provide a quality product, made in the USA , by fisherman and for fisherman.

Originally the founder, Brett Honza had been a contractor and custom cabinet maker and spent all available spare time fishing with family and friends and occasionally made a custom Gaff or Harpoon to give as a gift or donation to a local event or charity. Many Gaffs and Harpoons found their way to office walls as more art than functional due to the craftsmanship.

After many seasons fishing Halibut and finding frustration in the commercially available Halibut gear, knowing that some built their own, Brett set out to build and refine his own gear. After almost two years, some flops and successes, a rig that had proved itself time and time again was finally finished. On the way back from a particularly fruitful trip, a guest made a comment about making and selling this rig. The answer was “ I’ll think about it”.

Later on that year, after finding new technology with hollow core braided line and Fluorocarbon leader called a Wind-On, using it on many Albacore tuna trips and a blessing from his wife, a new company was formed called Northwest Topshots. Now Brett and his wife Sherry are both deeply involved in producing a quality product at a reasonable price and spend much their time in producing and promoting their products, always with an eye on the future and the development of new products.
